After 6 weeks of delivering vocational training and deliberating upon the idea of a self-reliant India, the Atmanirbhar Bharat webinar series concluded yesterday. The Chief Guest at the closing ceremony was the Honorable Governor of Tripura Mr. Ramesh Bais and the Guest of Honor was Dr. Vinay kumar Pathak, Vice Chancellor, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam University.

Address by the Chief Guest

Addressing the audience, Mr. Ramesh Bais said that the mission to make India self-reliant should receive nationwide support and that all must unite in being vocal for local so that the unfulfilled national dream of a self- reliant India could finally be realized. He said that after having empowered Germany, Japan and China by endorsing goods made in these countries, India now needs to shift its focus back to goods made in India and that the coming era will be the era of goods Made in India. He suggested that an Atmanirbhar Bharat can be built only by strengthening and re-empowering the erstwhile self-reliant Indian villages. Referring to the success of the green revolution and the white revolution, Mr. Bais said that India has the potential to beat the odds and to be self-reliant, all we need to do is to support local brands, manufacturers and goods.

The Bookmark Agency is hopeful that the speech shall serve as a guide for those who are willing to invest their energy and effort in making India Atmanirbhar.

Address by the Guest of honor

The Guest of Honour, Dr. Vinay Pathak began his speech by talking about techno nationalism and how techno nationalism has propelled China’s rise as a major global player in the technology space. He said that although it is hard to predict the future of technology and even harder to align national growth to technological growth, what we cannot deny is the fact that the future shall belong to the countries that are technologically advanced. Citing examples of recent technological developments in a variety of sectors, Dr. Pathak stressed upon the importance of shifting national focus towards artificial intelligence and battery technology. He suggested that our plan of creating an atmanirbhar Bharat cannot be uninformed of these developments. In his speech, he further suggested that the pandemic might lead to a phenomenon of reverse globalization and we’ll see an increasing number of countries desiring to be atmanirbhar. India’s plan to be a self-reliant nation must be informed of this reality as well and we need to focus on technologies that would empower our existing strengthens.

Concluding his speech, Dr. Pathak said that even the space of vocational training will see new elements being added to it, and that we need to work on our techno nationalism and focus on skill based education.

As the Media and Research partner of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Webinar series, we thank the Honorable Governor of Tripura, Mr. Ramesh Bais and Dr. Vinay Pathak for addressing the concluding session. We would also like to thank Mr. Pradeep Singh for giving us the opportunity of covering the sessions.
